TOMA-Now was recently featured in House and Leisure magazine’s October 2014 issue, as a result of the work we’ve done on the Better Living Challenge.

Dr. Jaisheila Rajput heads up a sustainability consultancy for businesses, TOMA-Now (Tomorrow Matters Now)
How did TOMA-Now begin?
While living in Hong Kong, I looked at the prominence sustainability is gaining in emerging markets and the role it can play in shaping economies. I believe these can be adopted locally for South Africa, so when an opportunity presented itself, I leapt on it.
What are the company’s objectives?
We specialise in value creation (revenue, reliability and reputation) and offer solutions for corporates and SMEs – strategy, innovative business models and value-chain thinking –with a strong focus on sustainability.
Your experience of the Better Living Challenge?
I really like the idea behind it – using design to address key societal challenges in a holistic, sustainable way.
Who inspires you?
I’m a fan of innovative and creative thinkers such as Elon Musk (Tesla, SpaceX), Indra Nooyi (PepsiCo), Jay Kimmelman (Bridge International Academies) and Tim Brown (IDEO).
Advice for new companies?
Choose to work on something that you love – your passion will help bring out the creative spark and help weather the storms. Don’t give up: the rewards make it well worth it.
